Our ABL group provides companies with committed revolving lines of credit and term loans under a covenant light structure. These forms of financing are ideal for companies that are:

Asset-Based Revolving Lines of Credit and Term Loans

  • More flexibility than a traditional operating facility
  • Advances of up to 90% on accounts receivable and 90% of appraised inventory value
  • Term loan advances based on the appraised values of fixed assets
  • Facility limits are based on asset lending values to maximize access to capital
  • International / cross-border financing structures
  • Loan facilities available in Canadian and/or US dollars and many other currencies
  • Solutions available for midsized and large companies (facility sizes range from $2 million to large syndicated transactions of more than $1 billion)
  • Committed facilities with terms up to five years

Selective Invoice Discounting

  • Specific receivables are purchased by RBC to accommodate client balance sheet risk transfer or structuring needs
  • A form of financing that will enhance your current operating facility, serving as either a complimentary product to an existing operating line or a stand-alone facility
  • Invoices can be purchased for up to 100% of their face value

Robert Kizell is the Managing Director and Head of ABL at RBC Capital Markets. In this capacity, Robert leads a team of professionals which lends their expertise to RBC units enterprise-wide, including Capital Markets and Personal and Commercial Banking. This allows all parts of the enterprise to provide ABL products to the various global markets that RBC serves. He has spent over 25 years in the financial services industry where he has worked in the areas of real estate lending, commercial and corporate lending, special loans, corporate finance, and asset based lending. In mid-1994, Robert commenced marketing asset based loans in Canada for Bank of America and has become one of Canada’s leading experts in this area of lending. His experience includes various leadership positions in origination, underwriting, syndication and portfolio management. Robert received his BA in Economics from York University and his MBA in Finance from Dalhousie University.

Daniel Gioia

Dan Gioia is the Managing Director and Head of US Asset Based Lending for RBC Capital Markets. He is responsible for originating, structuring, distributing and executing ABL transactions for the firm’s Capital Markets client base. Dan is an experienced banking and capital markets professional with extensive capital raising and investing experience across a broad spectrum of industries, products and markets. He has an extensive background in creating, structuring and negotiating financial structures for leveraged, acquisition and restructuring transactions. Dan's experience in ABL includes conducting field exams, origination, underwriting, syndication and portfolio management. Dan has a BA in economics from the University of Rochester and an MBA in Finance and International Business from NYU’s Stern School of Business.

Edward Lynch is the Director and Head of ABL Origination at RBC Capital Markets. In this capacity, he leads the team responsible for originating, structuring and executing ABL transactions for RBC’s Canadian and international client base.  Edward has closed numerous Canadian, cross-border and European ABL financings and syndications for RBC clients and has been instrumental in the growth of ABL at RBC Capital Markets since 2009.  He has been with RBC for over 11-years and has held various corporate lending roles in the Toronto and New York offices.  Edward holds an Honours BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and a MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

Tro DerBedrossian is a Vice President with the ABL Group at RBC Capital Markets and is responsible for business development within the province of Ontario. Tro has over 15 years of lending experience; beginning his career with RBC in 2001 as a Commercial Account Manager and subsequently transitioned into ABL in 2004 as an Underwriter prior to moving into business development. Tro has significant experience in structuring and negotiating commercial and corporate transactions with various complexities and challenges. Tro graduated from the Schulich School of Business with a BBA (Honours) in Finance and Strategic Management.

Mark Kiyonaga is a Vice President with the ABL Group at RBC Capital Markets. Mark is based in Toronto and is responsible for business development within the province of Ontario. He brings to the position over 10 years of experience in ABL as both an analyst and underwriter with RBC. Mark has an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a graduate of the University of Toronto. He also holds a CPA, CMA designation and is a CFA charterholder.
